Fern Brook House
About Fern Brook
Built in the 1800s, The Fern Brook House was once the family home for the large farm which operated many years ago in these hills. The house has been fully renovated, and its recently-constructed covered stone porch looks out over a very private valley, where sheep or horses often graze. It is beautifully furnished, and tastefully decorated. Three/four bedrooms and four full baths plus a half bath provide a very comfortable and elegant living space.
About the House
The large eat-in kitchen is airy and light (a more formal dining room is adjacent). There is a detached two-bay garage a short distance from the kitchen door. Well-equipped with professional appliances, the newly renovated kitchen offers several areas to sit, chat, and relax. At the other side, there is also a cheerfully decorated breakfast area surrounded by windows.
The downstairs wing offers a suite of privacy, beginning with an inviting bedroom, perfect for a quiet read or a nap. The windows at the end look out onto a beautiful summer garden. The full bath downstairs is equipped with both a bathtub (which looks out over the fields below) and a shower.
The sitting room upstairs offers invitingly soft chairs - a comfortable retreat. There are also areas for playing games or for chatting - a real family room. A sofa pulls out into a double bed, creating a fourth bedroom when needed. A bedroom with queen-sized bed, spacious closet storage, attached bath — a large, bright room tucked on the back side of the house. Peace and quiet! Nearby is a wonderfully comfortable twin bedroom, complete with lovely quilts for cooler weather.
The Surrounding Area
The gardens at the Fern Brook House are resplendent with blooms in the summer. Take a refreshing swim in Fern Brook's spring-fed pond. Nearby are miles of hiking or cross-country skiing trails, and spectacular lookout points.
Terms
We are pleased to be able to offer our homes in 2012 at our current 2011 rate! The Fern Brook House is available for rent on a monthly basis for $6,500; rates are subject to Vermont Rooms and Meal Tax. References are required. We regret that we cannot allow pets in the house.
