An exceptional home, Cluaran House welcomes you with comfort, luxury, and the very best of Vermont. The house is isolated and private, yet looks down over wide spaces, and to the hills and mountains beyond.
About the House
Cluaran (Gaelic for "thistle") provides an open, airy floor plan full of light, and offers both privacy and ease of living. Spacious bedrooms sleep six (a crib is available upon request).
This house is also particularly suited to small retreats or conferences. Catering for all meals can be provided.
The large kitchen features modern appliances, a preparation island, and convenient access to the dining area. Centrally located, the dining area is a wonderful place for family and friends to gather and enjoy lengthy meals and conversation. The dining area seats ten comfortably, and is situated next to a massive stone fireplace and near enough to the kitchen for convenience, while maintaining its own character. The spacious comfortable living room is wrapped by a large deck overlooking acres of fenced fields and the valley of South Woodstock beyond.
A double bedroom opens through French doors onto a private corner of the porch wrapping the back of the house - walk out to breakfast overlooking the fields, or relax in the lounge chairs at night and watch the brilliant stars. A large double room with comfortable queen bed is bright and offers quiet reading space.
Wood flooring and lovely curved bannisters provide an elegant warmth to the stairway to the second floor. A large double room with comfortable queen bed is bright and offers quiet reading space. A wonderful twin bedroom on the second floor is in a private corner of the house.
The Surrounding Area
Cluaran's long-range views are breathtaking. The house is surrounded by trees at the height of their color during foliage season, pristine snow in the winter, and lush fields and paddocks where sheep and horses may graze in the warmer months.
Terms
We are pleased to be able to offer our homes in 2012 at our current 2011 rate! The Cluaran House is available for rent on a monthly basis for $6,300; rates are subject to Vermont rooms and meal tax. References are required. We regret that we cannot allow pets in the house.
